Emerald Nocturna: A Luna Moth Soap Born Beneath the Autumn Moon
There is a moment on an autumn night when the trees become silhouettes, the air turns cool, and even familiar places feel a little enchanted. That is where Emerald Nocturna began.
We wanted to create a soap inspired by the luna moth: a creature with pale green wings that seems almost too beautiful to belong to the dark. Its color became the heart of the bar. Emerald and teal sweep through violet, coral, and black, creating a different pattern in every cut.
The name belongs to the night. In our telling, Nótt moves beneath a full autumn moon while a moth flutters through the trees on velvet wings. Its color catches the moonlight for an instant, then vanishes into the shadows. Emerald Nocturna holds onto that glimpse.
What does Emerald Nocturna smell like?
The soap is scented with Nocturna by CandleScience, but the notes that come forward most in our finished bars are amber, sandalwood, and vanilla. Together, they create a warm, smooth fragrance with a woody foundation. Green leaves, violet, and bergamot bring a lighter opening, while chocolate, rum, and oud add depth.
It is a scent for someone who likes their sweetness wrapped in woods and shadow. The vanilla feels warm beside the sandalwood and amber, while the darker notes give the fragrance its nighttime character.
A different night in every bar
Part of the pleasure of handmade soap is seeing how the design reveals itself when the loaf is cut. Emerald Nocturna’s swirls are inspired by the luna moth’s luminous color, but no two bars carry those colors in quite the same way. One may show a bold violet curl; another may hold more green and teal.
Emerald Nocturna is for anyone drawn to moths, moonlit forests, unusual fragrance, or a little beauty after dark.

Here at Birds of Valhalla, we love to make test soaps and scents and if they are well received, make them bigger and more official. When at the testing stage, like this soap- we have smaller bars, concept art and packaging for the temporary, very small first batches. If the community loves the scent and product, we will have an Artist create the packaging and a soap stamp, then make the next batch of soap to be much larger bars!
